Kú Cycle signs professional athlete Per van Vlerken
April 7, 2021 – Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Kú Cycle announces to have officially signed a multi-year sponsor partnership with professional triathlete Per van Vlerken.
Per van Vlerken
Per van Vlerken is a German long-distance professional triathlete for over 10 years with a clear goal to win an Ironman distance event after several podium finishes and to finish under 8 hours. His personal best was achieved at 8 hours and 4 minutes at Challenge Roth in 2015. Together with his newly appointed coach, van Vlerken defined a clear plan to save time and watts on the swim, bike and run leg. This plan is now in full implementation.
Van Vlerken explains his reasons for his partnership with Kú Cycle “I’m very excited about my new partnership with Kú Cycle as this is a truly out-of-the-box thinking company with a great concept and a very personal character, which is very important to me. I’m also convinced I will be riding the fastest possible bike in the market and I’m keen to provide my personal input to the company’s product development to help push the current innovations even further. The fact this company is based in The Netherlands is also great for me and my Dutch partner and provides even more reasons to visit the Netherlands to work closely with the team at Kú Cycle. I also believe this company truly reflects the Dutch culture; open minded and to make the impossible possible. This partnership is a total fit for me!”
Van Vlerken worked with Kú authorised fitter Lloyd Thomas from Cyclefit Europe in Frankfurt where van Vlerken’s optimal fit was established. Lloyd Thomas and Kú Cycle co-founder Richard McAinsh then designed the personal Kú TF1 for van Vlerken, which is subsequently built to his personal specifications.
Kú Cycle co-founder Alex Bok explains the company’s decision to partner with van Vlerken “I have personally worked with Per since the start of TEAMTBB in 2007 and his commitment to the sport, his constant drive for better results but also his eye for technical details form a perfect match for us as a bike company. We believe some of Per’s best athletic results are in front of him and we will work very hard to provide Per the fastest possible bike.”
Van Vlerken will first race on the Kú TF1 race during the Gloria Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria on April 24th.
