Mechanical testing is an exciting and nerve wracking (for the engineer at least!) period in the overall product development timeframe. It is the final step from concept to first product and the first step in the refinement of that product for safety and performance.

No different to the strict tests a F1 chassis has to pass before letting a driver loose on the track, all ten testing hurdles had to be cleared before we were
confident letting a rider onto the TF1.

Experience in F1 teaches that failure is common place; if it passes first time it’s too heavy! TF1 was no different in this regard and with each failed test the
design and manufacturing process was improved and refined till all ten test check boxes were ‘green’.
