As long-distance triathlon events worldwide adopt the updated DTU (German Triathlon Union) hydration regulations from the end of May, Kú Cycle is proud to support TF1 athletes with a purpose-built solution to stay compliant and competitive.

New Rules, Smarter Solutions

The DTU’s ‘2025 Sportordnung’ imposes precise restrictions on front-mounted hydration systems—limiting bottle placement to within 25 cm behind and 20 cm above the rider’s elbow pads, without protruding past the bar tips or nearing the front wheel. These standards are now being applied across all long-distance triathlon formats.

The Kú TF1’s standard top-cap bottle mount already satisfies these criteria across all sizes and fit configurations. But for athletes seeking expanded hydration options while maintaining compliance, we’ve gone a step further.

Introducing the Kú Bottle Mount Extender

Now available in the Kú online store, our new CNC-machined Bottle Mount Extender enhances the TF1’s front hydration setup without compromising legality or aerodynamics.

This extender fits directly to the standard bottle cage mounts on the TF1’s top cap and enables:

– Dual mirrored bottles (one rearward-facing, one forward-facing), balancing hydration needs and ease of access.

– A single large bottle for events where fewer refills are preferred.

Each setup has been designed with the DTU’s dimensional and positioning limits in mind and tested on the TF1 platform to remain within the legal envelope—even in aggressive race positions.
