Kú Cycle TF1 vs Felt iA - Henk Galenkamp

Product Comparison Test – Friday 1 March 2024 – Almere, Netherlands

We question products and processes and we are always looking for new ways to deliver athlete performance gains.

Almere, Netherlands

In May 2022, Henk Galenkamp came to test the efficiency of his Felt iA vs our TF1.

Kú Cycle teamed up with AeroLab to run these tests for the most accurate data results. The AeroLab device collects 5000 data points every second at a 40 Kph average. That’s over 22.5 million data points!

The test consisted of multiple 800m laps on both bikes, measuring CdA, power (watts), average speed and wind.

We are data driven, committed to solid research and we let the numbers do the talking…

KÚ CYCLE COMPARISON AERO TEST

The data below are the results based on the following conditions:
The athlete riding at an average speed of 38-40 Kph with an average power of 280 Watts
An average wind speed of 39 Kph at a Yaw of 3°

The Kú TF1
demonstrates a CdA saving
of 14% against the Felt iA

The Kú TF1
saves the rider 20 watts of power
compared to the Felt iA

Over a full Ironman the rider will
reduce the bike split by 15 minutes
compared to the Felt iA

How does the TF1 reduce your CdA:

Industry-first Fork Air Stream Technology (FAST)

The patented design of this new technology is an industry-first Fork Air Stream Technology (FAST) inspired by F1 racing cars.
Reducing airflow blockage on the front of the bike and lowering overall bike + rider drag by manipulating and improving downstream airflow control.

Each FAST is rider specific in length to deliver a rider specific geometry tuned for aero performance. This enables us to match the handling of the TF1 to the rider’s ability to inspire confident handling and improve run performance

SUMMARY

The tests performed for the Felt iA and Kú TF1 were based on the standard Kú aero testing protocols

The Kú TF1
demonstrates a CdA saving
of 14% against the Felt iA

The Kú TF1
saves the rider 20 watts of power
compared to the Felt iA

Over a full Ironman the rider will
reduce the bike split by 15 minutes
compared to the Felt iA

The Kú TF1 demonstrates a CdA saving of 14% against the Felt iA over multiple aero tests. The Felt’s average CdA was 0.244 which was reduced on the Kú TF1 to 0.209 measured in the same conditions.

Over a full Ironman distance riding at 38-40 Kph the Kú TF1 saves the rider 20 watts of power compared to the Felt iA.

Over a full Ironman distance riding at a constant normalised power of 280 watts, the rider will gain an average of 2 Kph on the TF1 compared to riding the Felt, reducing the bike split by 15 minutes.

About Kú Cycle
A Dutch based company with a mission to design bikes and performance solutions that will change the sport forever – the perfect fit between body and machine. We believe a rider’s position should be established independent of the bike and will therefore reposition bike fitting services from a post-purchase service to a pre-purchase service. A new production process (built-to-order) and a completely different sales model are introduced with a single objective: athlete performance delivered!
